The metro is a wonderful invention of mankind for fast and comfortable movement of citizens. The Ukrainian city of Dnipro is known for its records, one of which is the smallest subway in Europe, which has one branch, which has only six stations. However, such a short subway manages to transport twenty-two thousand passengers per day, that is almost eight million per year.
Historical facts, mystical stories and the peculiarity of the Dnipro metro
The Dnipro metro was built for thirteen years — from 1982 to 1995. The movement was opened on December 29, 1995. The Dnipro metro line consists of one line called Tsentralno-Zavodska. The initial project — the line was supposed to be almost twelve kilometers long and have nine stations. But everything did not go according to plan. One-way train travel time is about fourteen minutes. The interval of movement is from ten to sixteen minutes, during peak hours the subway moves with an interval of four to seven minutes.
The Metropolitan is a place that is closely connected with various mystical stories. Movies were even made about it. Dnipro Metropolitan has its own creepy history. The metro in Dnipro officially appeared when the city became a millionaire. According to another version, it was a strategic construction, in the 70s Dnipro was a closed city. During the Cold War, on the map of foreign special services, the city was a probable target of airstrikes. In order to save the citizens and the city itself, it was decided to build a subway - according to the plan, it was supposed to be primarily a bomb shelter. It is this version that can explain the depth of five stations — it reaches about seventy meters.
Urban legend says that during the construction of the tunnel, a layer of metal was discovered. It seems that no technique could "take" that depth. People said that the foreman of the construction team led tours to the metal, and then suddenly went crazy. That's when the construction stopped. After the collapse of the USSR, the work was completely stopped. The townspeople say that it is not a matter of the suspension of funding, but of unknown circumstances. It seems that some mystical things are happening in the tunnels: someone walks, tools disappear, passages are broken, in the morning again in such a form as if no work was carried out there, unknown sounds heard by the workers, shadows and other extraordinary phenomena that scare. It is precisely because of these circumstances that the Dnipro metro stations have a short length.
Scheme of the Dnipro metro and stations
Briefly about the six main metro stations in the city of Dnipro. There are six of them:

The metro schedule has been unchanged for many years. The "subway" starts working at 5:35 a.m., and the carrier ends at 11:00 p.m. The operating hours of the metro in Dnipro may change, taking into account the realities of today - a full-scale invasion of Russia.
It is worth noting that the stations of the Dnipro metro have a similar design. The inner walls are covered with simple tiles, but the color of these tiles is different at each of the stations. For example: "Metrobudivnyk" has red-crimson walls, "Prospekt Svoboda" has light green walls, "Zavodska" has blue walls, and "Metalurgiv" has yellow walls.
