Journalism as a profession appeared on the territory of Ukraine in the nineteenth century. For a hundred years, they tried to actively develop this direction of expression of opinion, but there were not many chances for that. Journalists were allowed to work at one narrowly profiled level - Leninism, agitations and propaganda, everything else was strictly prohibited.
From the time when Ukraine finally gained independence, the revival of Ukrainian journalism began, and there have always been difficulties in this profession - self-censorship, the imprint of the totalitarian past, writing commissioned materials and much more. Today mass media plays an important role in the life of our society. There is a war in the country and journalists are risking their lives and health to gather all the important information, tell the truth, and fight the enemy on the information field.
